A Dartington theatre & dance graduate, I work as a performer chiefly in film & TV, site specific theatre and live art as well as voice work, and have loved playing a diverse range of roles across many genres. My professional acting credits, skills, showreel and agent details are all on Spotlight; and I've been an Equity member since 2007.
With a keen ear for accents and a physical theatre & dance training, I relish the challenge of portraying a wide, wild variety of characters; but my first & best inspiration has always been the wonderful work of Kneehigh & associates!
I'm currently writing on two early-stage film projects and writing, directing & performing in TIMEPIECE - a new street theatre & live art project that brings to life historical characters, stories & legends in experimental & entertaining ways.
Background & training
I always knew I was an artist, and I really enjoyed dance drama club at school. But, it wasn't until I was studying for an Art & Design BTEC at North Devon College, already lined up to study a Crafts Degree at Crewe, that I tried my first ever contemporary dance class, joined the Apprentices drama group at NDC, and saw my first Kneehigh production. Needless to say, a whole bunch of seeds got planted!
I subsequently switched to a Dance & Visual Arts Combined BA (Hons) on arrival at Crewe, and, after completing a first year there, got straight into the second year at Dartington College of Arts on the BA (Hons) Theatre Studies, with a Dance specialism - where I subsequently trained with some incredible inspirational teachers in a beautiful setting, and enjoyed a brilliant 3rd year at the Rotherhithe Theatre Workshop in London.
Physical theatre, film & TV
After graduating from Dartington with a 1st Class Degree, I worked as a devised and physical theatre performer in Devon, Scotland, Bristol and Amsterdam, and with companies including Theatre of Public Works and Les Anges, and took my own show 'Landmarks' to the International TheatreSchool Festival 'In De Nes'.
After moving to Cornwall, alongside my other work I've appeared in a range of SW site specific theatre & dance projects, TV & film roles, including the female lead in Gwenevere (pictured) with award-winning writer/director Philip Reeve (Mortal Engines, Here Lies Arthur) shot on Dartmoor in 2022-23, and in the acclaimed Cornish 'mockumentary' feature Tink's Kitchen with writer/director Henry Davies in 2007-08.
Dance
When first in Cornwall I joined a small but ambitious contemporary dance training company led by dancer/teacher Jan Man, and I co-founded M-Squared - a performance & training collective that ran for several years, working across dance, visual media & film - in collaboration with Penzance-based practitioner Caroline Schanche, while working with Dance Agency Cornwall.
I also danced with Gill Clarke at Tate St Ives for Partial Sitings, Full View as part of As Dark As Light in 1999, and with Birch & O’Shea's Territory One residency and performance (pictured) at Falmouth College of Arts in 1998. I performed with Angela Praed Dance Productions in Duets for Unusual Souls in 2008 and in 2009, and again in her Five Songs on the Rooftops project in Truro in 2010.
Characters for commissions
I love adding performative elements in to my large sculptural commissions, and creating characters to appear with them wherever possible. These have included an Amelia-Earhart-style Aviatrix riding a Damselfly, and a Ring Mistress keeping her cycling circus bear in check, both for BikeLights in Wadebridge; a Mary Poppins-inspired character dressed in the colours of a Cornish Chough to accompany the Early Bird in the Words In Woods festival with KEAP and IntoBodmin; and a 'Spirit of Ecstasy'-inspired illuminated cycling Muse to accompany her giant 'Glamophone', again for BikeLights.
More recently, for Kneehigh's Random Acts of Art, The Hoss's Lament: a weathered figurehead, (pictured), accompanying her ghost ship through the streets and the quays of Mevagissey at twilight as she sings a lament to lost things... (photo by Steve Tanner, song by Jim Carey & Carl Grose)
Voice
As well as voice-over & vocal work on arts projects, adverts, film projects and radio shows, I've also sung with several Cornwall-based vocal groups. I was a founder member of Cornish all-female shanty group Femmes De La Mer, led by musical director Claire Ingleheart (pictured with me here) - whose Suitcase Singers choir I also sang with for a time; and I also co-founded and sang with four-part female harmony group The Sound Outfit from 2015-2018.
TIMEPIECE
I had a mad idea in 2025 to try and tell stories, myths and legends using an experimental mixture of live performance, themed lanterns, characters, song, verse - and Time Travel!
This led to a new devised street theatre commission, TIMEPIECE: Tempus Fugitives! with Experience Bodmin, and with support from FEAST, IntoBodmin, St Petroc's Church & Bodmin Town Council.
Meeting five fascinating characters and illuminating a curated set of heritage tales, all relating to Bodmin's curious connections with Time, our small cast of players Time-travelled with an audience on both the Spring and Autumn equinoxes, in March and September 2026.
I'm currently working on a solo version to share with the public as the TIMEPIECE: Bodmin Time Tour! and also on some lovely new retellings of Arthurian legends & tales in Tintagel for next year.
